About Pastor Beverly Shaw Lewis

Faith * Service * Legacy

Her Calling

Pastor Beverly Shaw Lewis is the Sr. Pastor and Chair of GoodWorks Global Ministries, a global Christian Pentecostal ministry based in Southern Middle Tennessee. Ordained as an Elder by her father in 1995, Evangelist Lewis learned how to teach and preach by studying under the tutelage of her father, the late, great Pastor Buford Shaw, who founded the ministry in Tullahoma, Tennessee, in 1947.

Accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child, Pastor Beverly Lewis was literally “born” into ministry as she became the church musician at Atlantic Temple Church (now Shaw Temple Ministries) at the age of five. She was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit at the age of 11 at “the Old” Atlantic Temple Church.

Under Pastor Shaw’s ministry, Pastor Beverly Lewis’s spiritual gifts flourished and, for over 60 years, she came to be known throughout the local, regional and national church communities as a consummate pianist, soloist, speaker, teacher and mentor.

Her Ministry Journey

But even then, God had more that He wanted Pastor Beverly to do. In 1979, Pastor Beverly Lewis and her husband, the late Pastor George Lewis, founded and built Greater Love Church in Manchester, Tennessee. For 30 years, Pastor Beverly Lewis and her husband led that congregation until November 2009. Simultaneously, for 14 years, and after the death of Pastor Buford Shaw in 1995, the couple led the congregation in Tullahoma, Tennessee, until November 2009, when Pastor George Lewis passed away suddenly. Today, Greater Love Church and Shaw Temple Ministries continue as ministries within GoodWorks Global Ministries.

Over the years, God has used Pastor Beverly Lewis as a living testimony of what He can do. Growing up in the rural, segregated South during the 1950s, she believed God, applied His Word to her life and stepped out on faith to fulfill her God-Given purpose.

Education and Service

Pastor Beverly Lewis holds a B.S. degree in Business Education with teacher certification from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed additional graduate studies in Psychology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

For 14 years, Pastor Beverly Lewis was an Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Education at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tennessee. In 1991, Pastor Beverly Lewis retired after 25 years of employment with the Social Security Administration in Tullahoma, Tennessee. For four years, she was employed as a Professional Counselor with the Office of Campbell & Turner, a medical practice in Manchester, Tennessee, and McMinnville, Tennessee.

Her Continuing Impact

A revered spiritual and education mentor, Pastor Lewis’ ministry has touched the lives of millions for over 70 years. Since the 1950’s, she has spearheaded numerous community outreach projects, particularly hundreds of Church Benefit programs to help families and individuals in need.

For 41 years, she was married to her “Partner in Ministry,” the late Pastor George Lewis. She is the mother of two and the grandmother of one.

Pastor Beverly Lewis is, and continues to be, a living testimony of the very real and very powerful Word of God. She is committed to ensuring and advancing the legacy that her father built. But even more importantly, Pastor Lewis endeavors to continue God’s vision for this ministry so that all who hear the “Good News” and learn of Him will come to know the goodness and mercy of Jesus Christ for themselves.
